Meet Our Staff

Jennifer Smith, RDA

Jennifer has over twenty years of dental experience. She has been a faithful team member of our office since 1996. She is a registered Dental Assistant with additional certifications in Radiology, Nitrous Oxide, and CPR. Over the years Jennifer has obtained additional training in dental implants, Invisalign (clear braces), NTI appliances (Niteguard), and has obtained an Associates Degree in Dental Laboratory Technology. With all the education she has received, Jennifer is giving back by teaching students to become dental assistants. Jennifer and her husband Robert of 25 years have one son, Brandon. They love to spend their time riding their motorcycle, traveling and listening to all kinds of music. She also loves to read and does craft projects in her spare time.

Denise Blasz, RDA

In the spring of 2007 Denise accepted the position of Clinical Instructor for the Dental Assisting program “Dental Careers”. In the fall of 2006 Denise, a Registered Dental Assistant, was invited to join the team of Dr. Goodowitz and Dr. Grapevine. With over 20 years of experience she is well trained in the many aspects of dentistry with her specialty being in cosmetics. Her many hours of training include courses focusing on cosmetic restorations, digital photography, dental imaging, dental software and power point presentation.

Denise is very active and enjoys traveling, house remodeling and spending time with family and friends. She is enjoying life as a newlywed and plans to start a family soon.

Cathy Nobles RDH, OM

Cathy is a native Texan. Born in San Angelo, she moved at a very early age to Burleson where she was raised on a farm with her brother and sister. Cathy raised sheep and showed them in 4-H.

Cathy earned an associate degree, cum laude, in dental hygiene from Collin College where she graduated in the college’s third dental hygiene class in 2001. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, named an emerging scholar (which earned her a scholarship), was awarded the B J Long scholarship, the rising professional award, service learning award and a class leadership award.

Cathy is very active member of ADHA (the American Dental Hygienists Association). She is currently the Secretary of TDHA (Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association.) She is also the Greater Collin County Dental Hygienists’ Society president where she has held the offices of secretary, treasurer and TDHA delegate.

She has furthered her education by attending a course in Orofacial Myology and is a practicing Orofacial Myologist working towards her certification.

Cathy enjoys getting to know her patients and spending time with them. In her hygiene position she routinely performs oral cancer screenings, takes radiographs and intra-oral camera pictures. She performs prophylaxes, probing, scaling and root planning and educates her patients in oral hygiene.

Outside of work she spends time with her husband, with whom she shares a passion for “living green” and photography. She enjoys visiting with her three children and five grandchildren when she can.

Glorena Nicholson, RDH

Glorena Nicholson, “Glo”, is a native Texan who graduated from Tyler Jr. College with an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1979. As a dental hygienist, she performs cleanings, which includes probing, charting, x-rays, fluoride treatments, placing sealants, and educating patients in homecare and nutrition. Glo has extensive knowledge in dental hygiene from her years of experience and dedication to continuing education classes that she attends regularly. Glo has received the title “Queen of Hygiene” around the office from her impressive twenty-eight years of service with Dr. Goodowitz. Outside the office she spends time with her husband and two sons.

Kari Lynn Sornsen

Kari is originally from Canada and was born in Surrey, British Columbia. She joined the practice as the Treatment Coordinator at the end of March 2011- she has been in dentistry for over 25 years; she was trained and began as an assistant part time when she was in High School in Connecticut- her career has been as an assistant and a front desk manager, therefore she has the knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the practice.

Kari is a single mom of two grown children, a son and a daughter. She lives in her home in Mckinney with her daughter and 2 rescue dogs. Her passions are cooking, taking care of her family (and of course the dogs) and she loves a great movie! She is also passionate about helping our patients understand and achieve the treatment that they want and/or need!
